What is High-Performance Learning ?Each child possesses unique qualities, values and abilities, and high performance learning takes into account not only the external touch points reaching a child through education but also the child itself, asking the question, what can be done to get the most out of this student while in the classroom? High-performance learning is a 360 degree approach to understanding how to create an environment where the student can achieve optimum potential.

What is Learner-Centrality and how is it implemented in the classroom?
|
Learner-centrality allows for a student’s own pathways for development by the usage of technology as well as autonomy in the classroom. In a learner-centered environment, teachers act as a guide, focusing students on specific problems, projects or tasks at hand to find the solution and understanding of the mathematics concepts they need to learn. In the classroom we will now focus on conquering specific goals and objectives and move away from high stakes testing and a performance management culture. “Goal-oriented practice and examples help maintain focus,” (How Learning Works, pg. 125) High-performance learning is a 360-degree approach to understanding how to create an environment where the student can achieve optimum potential. In my classroom, my role of “promoting [education] by lecturing less and being around the classroom more rather than in front of it,” (Education International, European Student Union, pg. 21) asks learners to work collaboratively with me and be involved in the process so they start to take ownership of their own educational career. |
